View Full Version : New Rule Suggestion

Hi. I've recently been re-reading the controversial "homosexuality" topics on TopDark.

After re-reading them, I said to myself, "Why were we all insulting eachother just for having differing views about a topic?"

Don't get me wrong, I really like discussing philosophical ideas and religion, but the truth is, I think the moderators should add a new rule which states that homosexuality and religious discussions are not allowed.

Like I said, I really liked those topics, reading other people's opinions, and discussing religion (thanks to CytonicDevil for creating the awesome threads by the way) but sensitive subjects such as homosexuals can result in different interpretations of religion and this results in insults, disrespect, and despise between people and it was shown between some Topdark members who participated in these discussions.

What makes TopDark different from other members is that the forum only consists of gulf/Kuwaiti members and only 4,000 people where only 50-150 of these members post a lot. (most are COD kids so they don't log on a lot:D) If these controversial religious and sensitive discussions continue, it'll create disrespect between the 50-150 common TopDark users and as a result make the forum a bit dysfunctional. I really like the fact that TopDark has only 50-150 people who commonly post.

We know that these controversial topics will never end up as a friendly debate due to differing views so it is the best to stop all these discussions, especially since TopDark is supposed to be a gaming/technology forum and NOT a philosophy or religious forum. If people want to discuss religion or philosophy, their are plenty of forums to discuss that on the internet. In my opinion, TopDark is not the place.

So my suggestion:

1) Add a rule which states no homosexuality or controversial "mature" discussions are allowed because it'll lead to disrespect. (I've said the word "disrespect" 1000 times.. Sorry LOL.)

2) I know that discussing sunna/shia is against the rules, but I honestly think it'd be better to ban all religious discussions because they'll lead to differing views and interpreations of religion/islam/god.

3) Now, I suggest to delete the "sick mentality" thread PERMANENTLY because it is the one with the most disrespect and hatred. The reason why I say this is because if a new member joins and reads the rules which say "NO controversial discussions or religious discussions" he might go look at this topic and ask the mods why they lied when in reality they did not since the rule was placed after the thread. Seriously, go look at the thread and see the bad blood between some of us in the thread. It'd be better to delete the thread if these new rules are implemented. Read this thread for yourself to see the disrespectful posts: http://www.topdark.com/vb/showthread.php?t=10165

Some people reading this might ask, "Why is Aviator looking at old threads to create new rules?" The answer is simple. So it'll be easier to always have friendly discussion in this forum.

I'm sorry for writing a 15000 word essay, but I felt it was necessary to emphasize the point I was trying to make.

So what is your opinion? Should we add these rules and delete the thread or what?

Thanks to all.

Aviator.

Well yeah I agree... It just leads to fights at the end. I don't think anyone would create a similar topic again since i made it clear in the last gay related topic that we don't want those, but still we need an official rule for this.

Yes, we need an official rule like you said and a delete to threads that ended up with disrespect.

It's also kinda worrying that even a topic about EID turned into a shia/sunna conversation and a little argument about if its ramadan or not...Eid is supposed to be a time of joy and happiness and I thought the topic would've ended up with a friendly chatter, but it got into a little argument which, as I said, is worrying.

I used to like discussions but now not so much.
Some people just seems to force their opinion on you even when they're wrong. I'm not talking about religion and homosexuality threads but most threads on TopDark.
It's just not as fun as it used to be. =(

I don't know what topics you are referring to, but I trust that you are correct.

Obviously, we'll need to deal with this problem of "forcing their opinion on others" by deleting the threads that left a bitter taste and create new rules to stop controversial subjects so that people don't start insulting others and spread hate.
