I thought I'd make a thread where we give our opinions on the last films we watched. If we loved them or hated them, if we recommend them or not..
The movies don't all have to be good because I'm sure we've all seen some lame ones that made us wish he had 2 hours of our lives back.
But sometimes we see movies that make us wish more people would watch them.

Anyway, here's what I watched yesterday..

The Hurt Locker (2008)

I'm a big fan of war films, specially the ones about World War II or Vietnam. But I've rarely seen movies about the Iraq War.

This one surprised me because I didn't hear anything about it before. The leading cast are all unknown actors, and that made me like the movie even more. You felt like they were real soldiers not a bunch of actors playing soldiers.

Anyway, the story is about a 3-man-squad who are specialized in disarming road-side bombs. They have about 23 days left before their duty is over and they get back home, but bomb threats keep coming and they have to deal with them.

The movie reminded me a lot of COD4 because of the same atmosphere. But I have to say that what I liked most about it was an epic 20-minute sniper battle scene in the middle of the Iraqi desert. It had the same feeling as fighting The End in Metal Gear Solid 3.

..So, this movie is pretty good. You should watch it if you like war films. I give it

if your a Fan of the FF series this is a must see movie for you especialy if you liked FF7 and even if you arent a fan of the series this movie has enough action and jaw droping CGI animation that will make you say am i in the year 2015 , you have to watch it with the original japanese voice acting :) , if you torrent this movie 1000 tibit monkey souls will curse your name every day and a ketty will die ,
i dont like to rate stuff with numbers but wth i give it 87/100

i won't spoil the story, i saw in my life too many Pixar movies, but this one stands out the most, because it was the most Pixar movie that pushed me to tear (a little :P), the humor is funny for children and adults at the same time, the story is wonderful, but some how the ending left a little space ... other than that i recommend anyone to watch this movie.

I feel ashamed for not having seen this yet.
I've watched every Sergio Leone film with the exception of this.
He's pretty much one of the greatest film makers who ever lived, and his spaghetti western trilogy with Clint Eastwood is nothing short of a masterpiece.

I guess I gotta watch it this week.

Short review: It sucks.

Slightly longer review: The trailer made it look cool and mysterious, and I liked the director for his older movies (Dark City, The Crow, I, Robot). But the entire movie is a joke, and I found myself laughing at the end at how horrible it turned out.

The whole movie slowly builds up to the final scenes and it keeps you guessing what the twist is gonna be.
Guess what it was? Just like every other mystery thriller in the last 20 years....

...It was aliens the whole time!!1 ZOMGWTFBBQ!!one1.

I hate when the writers get lazy and just dump the ending on that ^ without any explanation.
Anyway, that's my opinion. And unlike me, you may actually like the movie. The special effects were awesome so it made me give it

Hmm, that's a hard question for me because I don't have just a few that I consider my favorites. But I can list some.

-Memento is definitely one of my favorites too In fact, every Chris Nolan movie is one of my favorites (including the Batman movies, Insomnia, The Prestige)
-Fight Club. I have seen that movie so many times that I memorized the lines.
-The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. The greatest western ever made.
-2001: A Space Odyssey. Every time I watch it I get blown away. It's over 40 years old but still amazing in every single way.
-Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, Saving Private Ryan, Rescue Dawn.. those are some of my favorite war movies.
-The Big Lebowski. The funniest movie I have ever seen, I can see it a million times and still laugh my ass off.
-All movies made by David Lynch (especially Lost Highway, Blue Velvet, Wild At Heart, and Eraserhead)
-Repo Man. One of the strangest and coolest movies you'll ever see.
-Dead Man, Ghost Dog, Down By Law, Night on Earth and anything else made by Jim Jarmusch.
-The Fountain. This movie will really make you think, It has an amazing story that's sad and touching.
-Southland Tales. A great complicated movie that needs to be seen many time to truly aprreciate.

..And a ton more of others, but that's what came to my mind at the moment :P

Those movies are awesome, these guys were one of the best comedy teams ever.
Every movie they appear together is always a classic.
And I remember laughing my ass off watching See No Evil. Specially at this scene LOL

Citizen Kane.

What might one imagine a movie to be like in the 1940's, when cinematography was still very young. Even with no computers or other high tech tools, the movie itself is a technical masterpiece, camera movements and lighting were used brilliantly to give the atmosphere a powerful effect, it gave some of the scenes a very lonely vibe, and a sense of emptiness, which goes hand-in-hand with the main character and his ups and downs through life.

This is what cinema is all about, bringing a simple story and filling it with life. If you appreciate cinematography, then this movie was unrivaled for its time, and not by many, today.

I look forward to seeing it. It's pretty amazing when a black & white movie has cinematography better than what is being used today.
I found 2 movies to be jaw dropping in B&W cinematography, The Seventh Seal and Paths of Glory. They looked completely unique and like nothing else I had seen. Once I see Citizen Kane I'm sure it will join those.

A strange and funny mystery movie. It's about 6 people who anonymously receive invites to a mansion in the woods. And once they get there, they discover that they all have something in common.

Then, murders start to happen and the killer has to be one of them. And in the whole movie you'll be guessing who did it.
The ending is just priceless, it's like no other movie ending you have even seen.

The cast was perfect, had some really funny scenes, and overall the movie was great. Totally recommend this

Since you liked it so much, I recommend another movie by the same director (Paul Mcguigan) with the same actor (Josh Hartnett) called Wicker Park.

It has the same narrative as Memento, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and others..
So it's guaranteed that you'll like it. (Just don't read anything about it before watching cuz of major spoilers!)

JCVD (2008)

I saw this movie last year but I thought I'd watch it again. And man, it completely blew me away both times. Everything's just perfect in this movie, the story, the acting, the directing, the dialog.. all of it.

From the poster and title you can see that it's about JCVD (Jean Claude Van Damme). In the movie, he plays himself; an actor stuck doing shitty action movies to make some money to pay his bills and lawyer's fees.
But an event happens that makes him rethink his whole life. I don't wanna say more because I don't want to spoil the movie for you.

I just had no idea JCVD was such an amazing actor. It's unlike any of his old movies (LOL remember Street Fighter The Movie?). They mention his real movies here and make fun of how lame they are.

So, I think this movie is a must-see if you like movies with twists, or if you liked watching Van Damme movies while growing up.

Thief (1981)

Saw this movie and thought it was really great. James Caan steals the show playing a professional diamond thief that gets hired by people to open safes. He thinks about retiring from this business to live a normal life, but agrees to do 1 last job for a guy who turns out to be from the mafia.


While watching this movie I thought it would be like a normal action movie, but when I reached the ending..
Oh man, I swear my jaw dropped to the floor. It was one of the best movie endings I've ever seen.

Highly recommend you check this out.

First of all this movie is directed by The man himself, Clint Eastwood.

Second, There have been talks that this may be his final movie to do and his final picture to act in.

Third, If that happened. I could say that he went out with a bang because this movie, is simply amazing.


At first when i saw the trailer, i felt that its a boring movie and what not. But, i told myself since i'll be seeing citizen kane & JCVD, might as well see this movie and well...im glad i did. You could take this as a very insightful movie.

Clint Eastwood stars of as an Old, war veteran who lives alone and is really grumpy/rude. The people next to him living are koreans/chinese and well, lets just say is that he is a guy who doesn't love/like people(He is the sort of telling you everything in your face even if it was really rude).

Not only that but he fought the war in korea/chinese, he is a man haunted by his past (War) , yet, in the movie he slowly, tries to open himself with the korean/chinese family that lives next door. I Don't want to spoil anything but seriously, the story, Acting, humor is the main attraction of this film. Clint Eastwood was/is simply amazing and he is a true hero.

Don't miss out on this one and it will remind you of dirty Harry.


I Give this a satisfying 9.8/10 , Now i'll be watching Citizen kane and JCVD.

I won't mind watching this movie again. The acting, Dialogue, Story made it really great and lets just say that the ending is shocking.

Also, if anyone(who watched the movie) guessed who sang that song at the credits then you get a cookie.

i just saw the movie just now
and believe me i had it since it first came out on DVD but i never watched it was in my drawer and i never even touched it
but when i read what u said up i gave it a try
the movie is just AWESOME in every way
i was this little to cry @ the end he said a lot of facts that are true and they are here in Q8 it just sad people do this to each other not only that but they are a family

First of All its a true story Happened in 1933
its awesome in every way

if u like Old School Mafia Robbery than watch this movie its awesome
its not like the normal robbery movie where the criminal go make a complicated plan or something just watch it
and the most thing i liked about the movie is 2 things :
1st. it has Johnny Depp the amazingly Funny Actor if u want some Depp Funny-ness watch this again !!! and it has Christian Bale (The Batman Actor) hes awesome in this movie too
ull cry in most of the movie (i didnt but well lets just say i was almost close to cry :P)

2nd.the movie is absolutely all about Fire and doing things
it doesnt talk for long long long long scenes , the movie is made for doing not talking :P :P

Buffalo '66

I loved it, really loved it. The atmosphere the movie shapes is just immense, I really don't know how to describe it, it's kind of scary and sad at the same time, and the characters seem so chaotic, but you can sort of understand why they're there, acting the way they are.

Just saw the trailer for this.. Christina Ricci lookin delicious :P
The actor (Vincent Gallo) gets me depressed just by looking at him.
Somehow, I always remember him for that one scene in The Brown Bunny..

This is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while. It's the same classic Guy Richie style he's famous for. What I liked about it was that there wasn't any lead characters, everyone gets the same treatment in the story.

Great movie, check it out.

Last movie I watched was Monster Vs Aliens its pretty funny at times...Wasn't boring at all (my little cousin wanted to watch it and not me but its still awesome) and some nice destruction scenes.

Worth watching just for the legendary cast, but the story is actually quite amazing as well.

Tell me if this sounds familiar..
A group of highly trained soldiers (each with a special skill) are sent on a mission to infiltrate a small nazi occupied island to destroy two powerful giant guns that give germans control over the sea.

Well..
The movie reminded me a lot of the first Metal Gear game. I later found out that Kojima was influenced by this movie in writing the storyline of the game. He took the concept of the Metal Gear itself from the two guns in this movie.
And I think he paid tribute to one of the characters in the film (Miller) by naming one of the characters in Metal Gear (M. Miller)

Overall, the movie is very enjoyable and a must-watch for fellow Metal Gear-o-philes such as myself :D

Moon (2009)

A perfect example of how an original idea can make a small film with a cast of 1 actor be one of the best movies of the year.

The movie has a very simple concept but the acting and directing really make it feel huge. The music also fit the atmosphere perfectly (the composer is Clint Mansell who also scored the classic theme of Requiem for a Dream)

This is definitely one of my favorites of 2009.

Apt Pupil (1998)

Wasn't a masterpiece or anything, but it had some impressive acting by the duo.
Brad Renfro (R.I.P.) plays a kid fascinated by the holocaust, who discovers that his neighbour is an escaped Nazi war criminal from WWII living in disguise in America.
They then form a strange friendship based on interest and blackmail.

Directed by Bryan Singer (who made one of the best movies ever 'The Usual Suspects') and written by the legendary Stephen King.
That was enough for me to check the movie out and It didn't disappoint.

OldBoy(2005)

Oldboy was fantastic. I saw it about 2 years ago but I still remember it vividly, that's a sign of a powerful movie.

My 2 favorite scenes were the one when he eats a live octopus (biggest WTF moment). And the scene where he keeps knocking guys out with just a hammer (Done is the style of old school beat-em-up games).

The director just made a vampire movie called Thirst, and I can't wait to see it.

Just watched this movie and goddamn it sure is a beautiful movie. The atmoshpere, music, story and acting...everything was just very well done. The twist also caught me off guard and the movie surprised me alot.

Didn't expect it to be that good. 9.8/10. Wouldn't mind watching it again.
Indeed. And I don't think anyone else deserves a best actor Oscar this year other than Sam Rockwell. (Spoilers:) He basically plays 3 different roles of the same person and makes the whole thing make sense. He's simply incredible in this movie.

Watched this again yesterday. I think it has become one of my favorite movies of all time. Everything from the cast to the dialog to the music is simply perfect. If you're a fan of crime comedies I guarantee that you'll love this movie and you'll want to watch it more than once.
Just make sure you have english subtitles on otherwise you wont understand a word from the the thick british accents.

The ending was disappointing but everything else was great.
I dunno about you guys, but I feel that the ending is the most important part of any story or movie. It could completely make or break the whole film.

I've hated and loved movies based entirely on the impressions the endings had on me.

i watched Avatar couple a days ago and for all of you graphic whores its a must watch , its a visual master piece and the movement of the characters looks so real and fluent , though the story is lacking , character development is weak and has a simple plot but your going to forget all that when you are watching it because what it does best is sucking you in with its beautiful CGI , environments and generally how believably the characters look .

And i am looking forward to what is next in the near future and what more can be done with this tech and hopefully since now they are more familiar with the tech we are going to get a better story / plot .

What's also criminally underrated about JCVD is the director Mabrouk el Mechri. He has not done a single film since making it, which probably adds to the charm of JCVD. It's a type of movie you only see once, maybe twice a decade.

That monologue scene is probably my favorite. He still makes my jaw drop every time I see it. Oh, and the opening scene of the movie is incredible. One of the best 1-take scenes possibly ever. Along with the one from Children Of Men.

the main actor is Robert Downey JR , his performance was amazing ( nominated for oscar )
i think most people think of chaplin as a comedy character but they didn't know that he produces , write and direct his movies .

there's on fatal problem . it's hard to put the life story of someone as big as chaplin in 2:15 minutes . so some scenes feels very rushed and not explained .

My god did this movie make me laugh! This is not your typical comedy, and it's pretty hard to describe the type of humor in it.. It's about this pathetic Taekwon-do instructor who thinks he's cool (but he's not) as he encounters stupidity in his daily life.

There's no main plot, just a string of funny situations centered around the theme of a Taekwon-do class. The actor, Danny Mcbride really kicks ass in this movie. I've seen him in other movies and never liked his characters until I saw this film, and now I realize why he got famous. Btw, this movie really is a love-it or hate-it type of movie, so be warned if you're gonna watch it.

Well I finally watched Avatar in 3D.
and I must say this is one of the best movies I've ever seen it was amazing everyone was hyping this movie to be awesome/amazing as it was the most expensive movie ever made so I came in with high expectations and I was amazed...I can't really say parts that I liked as it will be a spoiler all I can say is:WATCH IT NOW!

The only thing that ruined it was some stupid homos in the cinema were laughing when some people died...Anyway it sure was amazing.

Also Avatar is now the highest grossing film ever something I never expected and it defiantly deserves it.

Unforgettable movie. Just like his other films, Michael Haneke just nails every scene in the movie. The storytelling technique had me totally intrigued and itching to know more. It's about an old man who narrates the movie as he recalls his younger days in a village in Germany where a series of very strange events happened involving the children of the village.

The White Ribbon feels a lot like Haneke's previous movie 'Cache (Hidden)' which is also an amazing film filled with his usual wtf moments. Watch this movie if you want to experience a masterfully told story and a movie very different from the recycled hollywood ideas of the late.

I guess I'll download the cam version and watch it since I'm too lazy to go out these days.
I'll give my impressions after I watch the movie.

Inception is a grade A masterpiece. An extremely well made movie. You owe it to yourself to check it out while it's still playing in theaters.

It's quickly becoming my personal favorite of the year.

The movie has every single actor one could ask for, but the story isn't that great and there are some mistakes. In terms of action I'd give it 10/10, but some touches were missing.

i watched this movie, and i can this is the best fighting movie ive ever seen 100/10 action, story, cast, everything is basically perfect !!!! Definitely watch this !!!
