Best: Cowboy Bebop, one of the most original and entertaining show's I've ever seen. It completely succeeds in everything it tries (Story, characters, humor, music).

Monster, an amazing study of the minds of psychopaths and the people trying to catch them. There's so many great moments in this show and each episode ends with you dying to find out more.

I really want to watch Monster, wish it wasn't 70 episodes or however long it is, I can barely watch 50 episode stuff :/

And yeah Cowboy Bebop is one of my favorites as well, although a lot of people don't find it interesting and say it has no story but they're just looking for some typical anime and Bebop is really different from most anime.

One of my recent favorites is Eureka 7, by the same guys who did Full Metal Alchemist and has amazing animation, great music, a good story and very well done characters. Probably my favorite series at the moment.

Worst I ever saw was Elfen Lied, shitty story, the whole thing is an excuse to show blood and little kids being killed and other retarded things. Horrible show.

While the anime was really short, i thought it was pretty good. The story was great and the twist at the end was shocking. Very good anime, i don't see how you could call it the worst when the story was actually pretty clear and good. I mean its about a race/species called the diclonius[As you watch, you learn more about the race and how they do stuff] and pretty much most of them are controlled by people, to be weapons and use them experiments purposes...except one escaped and i don't want to give anything more. I'd recommend anyone to give it a watch atleast, pretty short like 13 episodes short.

The manga however is of course much more detalied and of course longer since the anime ended at only 13 episodes.

Not to mention, it had one of the most beautiful music intro ever. It really fits the mood of the show.

Totally agree with you. Elfen Lied was brilliant, I remember that it had a confusing ending but that didn't ruin the show for me. And that opening theme is a fucking masterpiece.

I'm gonna watch Grave of the Fireflies soon along with a bunch of other stuff from Studio Ghibli, they make really great movies.

Also part of the reason I didn't like Elfen Lied was when I found out that the reason they cut off all the arms and legs of that little girl was because people in Japan found it sexy. Sorry but that's just wrong :/ Also it did mix humor/story etc. but I thought it did it in a weird way, the main character goes from killing machine to cute girl who loves the main character, it was too forced and they didn't really do a good job of mixing the different moods of the show. They try to make the main character insane but cute at the same time to cater to the fans lol... I thought it didn't really work.

Part of the story is about a romance, it also has really good action, a lot of characters with interesting pasts, an interesting current story, the only problem is it's 50 episodes and the first 7 or so are kind of boring because they are still setting up the story.

Did you watch the hellsing Anime or OVA? The OVA is way better, I hated the anime but the ova has better animation, is still coming out and is supposed to properly finish the story. It's also really violent but I didn't mind it as much as Elfen Lied for some reason, maybe because he's killing zombies and stuff and not little girls and puppies

Geez, its hard to choose "Best Anime", i loved multiple ones dearly. And its hard to judge since i am gonna start watching monster soon. But, i can say that Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is filling me with excitement with every release. Good characters, amazing story and universe and the music is freaking playing a huge role in the series.

Death note would be the best if it was ended at episodes 25 :P
